PFAS (poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances) are a group of chemicals made for use in industrial and consumer products. They are also processing byproducts and breakdown products of other fluorinated chemicals. PFAS are found ubiquitously in human populations and other species, and in surface water, ground water and sediments. The data here are for PFOA and PFOS only.
All PFAS studies included in the timeline were performed at doses of 5 parts per million or less (5 mg/kg bw).
