Results for Bisphenol AIncreased 5-HIAA, DA, and DOPAC levels in the striatum at post-natal day 30 in rats exposed to 1.0 μg/kg. |
Subjects: Sprague Dawley rats Chemical: Bisphenol A Low doses tested: 0.1, 1.0, 10.0, 100.0 or 1000.0 μg/kg bw/d Route of administration: dissolved in PBS and delivered intracranially Exposure duration: post-natal day 2 – single dose (comparable to human prenatal development from approximately day 1 of week 21 to day 1 of week 22) Age of measurement: post-natal days 9 and 30 |

Results for Bisphenol AAt post-natal day 30, increased hippocampal 5-HT levels in rats exposed to 1.0 μg/kg. On post-natal day 9, 5-HT was increased in 0.1 μg/kg treatment group; 5-HIAA and DOPAC levels were decreased in 0.1 and 10.0 μg/kg treatment groups. NE levels were increased at 1.0 μg/kg dose level. In addition, the 5-HIAA/5-HT ratio was decreased at the 0.1, 1.0, and 10.0 μg/kg dose levels. |

Results for Bisphenol AAt post-natal day 30, increased brain stem 5-HIAA levels in rats exposed to 0.1 μg/kg and increased 5-HIAA/5-HT ratio in rats exposed to 0.1 and 1.0 μg/kg. At post-natal day 9, 5-HIAA was decreased at 10.0 μg/kg and both DA and DOPAC levels were increased at the 0.1 μg/kg treatment level on post-natal day 9. The 5-HIAA/5-HT ratio was decreased at post-natal day 9 in rats treated with 1.0μg/kg and the HVA/DA and NE/DA ratios were increased at 10 μg/kg. |
